Newborn's Development in the Third Week

Are you aware of the developments that can be observed in a newborn during the third week? Learn more about the newborn’s development in this week.

Is it already the beginning of the third week of your baby's life in this world? Oh how time flies. But the major part of this testing phase is already over. Both of you have passed through it successfully. By the beginning of the third week you and your baby have fallen into a kind of routine. All the crazy unexpected things have started becoming familiar to you and you are now slowly starting to understand what your baby wants. By the third week your baby matures quite a lot which is always a good sign.

Baby's Appearance during Third Week

Have you always imagined that your baby would be pink and plump when you all see her for the first time? Were you disappointed that they did not look like that when they came into this world? Then now is the time for you to feel ecstatic because it is during the third week that babies start looking like that. Their skin turn pinkish and they become round and plump. The wrinkled skin will start disappearing as they keep growing and get healthier by day. Now would also be the right time to start with the precious baby photos.

Diaper Changes

The number of diapers that your baby will use will increase. It is natural for you to lose count of how many diapers you have changed in a day, forget a week. It is amazing how such a tiny person can produce such amounts of waste! But this is also the period where your baby is going to have diaper rashes. Baby lotions and creams work perfectly on these rashes and there is no need for you to lapse into panic mode. This is normal for almost all babies and most diapers are bound to cause these rashes. Just make sure you allow some diaper free time to prevent such rashes.

The Different Kinds of Cries

This is the time when you can start differentiating the "I am hungry" cry from the "I am sleepy" cry. Babies have differently pitched cries for everything they want because up till now, this is the only way they can communicate with you. The crazy periods of crying earlier have now turned into meaningful phases of communication through crying. But the continuous crying will continue. Do not fret. Once they have settled into the routine in this world their crying will lessen automatically.

New Sounds

The third week also brings out new sounds from the baby. Besides crying, sleeping and eating, your baby will now start making new noises like "ohhh", "ahhh" and a lot of other different cooing sounds. This means that your baby wants to talk to you. If they start making these sounds when you are trying to have a conversation with them, then it means you are progressing. If they are subject to hearing constant conversation around them, it will help them develop their motor skills. The more you talk, the more it will help them to learn the language faster.

Attraction to New Objection

Besides trying to focus on your face, your baby will now be attracted to toys. So, you can get toys like rattles and cot mobiles to keep her entertained. Though they cannot see much beyond 30cms from their eyes, they will still start to recognize different colours and flashy things. The toys will start seeming interesting and their curiosity will start growing. They will also start smiling and laughing during the third week. This shows that they are developing perfectly.

By this time you will become very familiar to the routine of your baby. So, enjoy this phase as in future you will cherish it as the most beautiful moments of your life.

What kind of developments can be observed in a three week old newborn? How to take right care of a newborn? What are the issues that parents of a newborn baby usually face? Discuss here.
